Helmholtz Coils
HelmholtzCoils are especially designed to generate precisely defined magnetic fields from DC to the upper end of the audio frequency range and beyond. The generated fields are in a strongly linear relation to the coil current. The field strength can be calculated exactly by analytical (or numerical) methods, based on the coils' geometry, the number of turns and the coil current.
Therefore HelmholtzCoils are ideally suited for the calibration of magnetic field probes or sensors. Typical applications are magnetic immunity testing according to automotive standards or MIL461F.
When generating magnetic fields with Helmholtz coils the coil current is directly proportional to the magnetic field strength.

NFCN 9731100  Compensation Network


The primary function of the compensation network NFCN 9731100 is to provide a serial compensation of the inductance of i.e. the HHS 5230100 at operation frequencies of 16.666 Hz, 50 Hz, 60 Hz, 150 Hz und 180 Hz. These operation frequencies are stipulated by SAE J551  17 (Vehicle Electromagnetic Immunity – Power Line Magnetic Fields).
The compensation capacitor reduces th e overall impedance of the series circuit consisting of the Helmholtz coil HHS 5230100 and the compensation network NFCN 9731100 at the applied operating frequency and allows currents up to 8 A_{rms} at a generator voltage of less than 60 V_{rms}.
